In the late 50s and early 60s, the Algerian war drags on. Salah, Kaddour and other destitute young Algerians join the French army as harkis. At their head is Lieutenant Pascal. The outcome of the conflict meant that Algeria would soon become independent. The fate of the harkis seems very uncertain. Pascal opposes his superiors to obtain the repatriation of all the men in his unit to France.
